The due diligence process in considering a merger or affiliation
is serious, but dont let the lawyers use it to tell you why it shouldnt
be done. Lawyers are trained to tell you the risks. They will seldom
provide the vision.
Use the process to understand what you are getting into, and then design
the program to minimize your risks. If the alliance is important for the
mission, there ought to be ways of doing it without jeopardizing what
you have.
