A federal district court in Maine has ordered a nonprofit hospital to pay treble damages to a female psychologist who was paid about 40% less than men providing the same services. The Court has granted a partial summary judgment for the woman under the Maine state Equal Pay Law. Clare Mundell was employed as a pool psychologist at Acadia Hospital beginning in 2017. Up until the time she filed suit in the case, the hospital employed five people as pool psychologists, two men who earned $90 and $95 an hour and herself and two other women who earned $50 an hour.
