The commission of organizational resources may be sufficient to show the injury necessary to confer standing for a housing rights organization to challenge discriminatory practices by an apartment owner, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals has ruled. The Equal Rights Center is a national civil rights organization that includes within its mission efforts to protect fair housing in the Washington, D.C. area. In 2013, it saw an advertisement for an apartment stating that Section 8 or other vouchers tenants would have to pay more in rent than those without such voucher.
