Within nine months after four high level employees of a nonprofit regional art community raised serious questions about the Executive Director’s use of federal grant funds, three had been fired and the fourth, formerly the Vice President for Finance, was demoted, stripped of her authority to sign checks and, she claimed, “constructively discharged.” They filed suit in federal District Court for retaliation under the federal False Claims Act, and for wrongful termination as against public policy under West Virginia state law.
