A federal District Court in Chicago has ruled that a plaintiff who filed Title VII employment discrimination claims against a nonprofit organization may be barred from pursuing her claims because she had failed to report her claims in a prior personal bankruptcy action. Tiffany Smith filed a pro se petition for personal bankruptcy in May 2019. She failed to report the claims in her application and said her total assets were only about $4000. Her debts, totaling about $22,500, were discharged in October, and Smith never advised the court about the claims before or after she was discharged. She filed a pro se claim on July 30 with the EEOC, claiming discrimination by American Youth Hostels...
