Fitness clubs can’t stop city’s $1-a-year lease to YMCA

A group of for-profit fitness clubs has been denied the right to bring suit to challenge a 40-year $1-a-year lease between the City of Charlottesville (VA) and the Piedmont Family YMCA on the ground that they had been denied the right to bid on the project.  The Supreme Court of Virginia has ruled that they did not raise a “justiciable controversy” and dismissed the actions.
